March 11th, The Annual Meeting held at the Harlem Yacht Club on Sunday January 27th
2008 Here's the scenario for a typical KSA meeting: 6:30 pm - Members start to arrive at the restaurant. Everyone pays for dinner and puts on a name tag. There is a bar in the meeting room and people buy their own drinks and socialize until 7:15 - 7:30. 7:30 pm - We start the meeting, the Commodore gives a brief explanation
of who we are and what we do. Various board members talk about ongoing
projects such as the newsletter, upcoming flotillas, sailing workshops
etc. Club members can ask questions or make comments during this time,
decisions are made by voting. Anyone who has showed up for the first time
is asked to introduce themselves and tell the group a little bit about
their sailing experience. It is not at all uncommon for people to say
they have no experience, they just want to know more. Captains (boat owners)
are asked to stand up and tell a little bit about their boat and where
they 8:30 pm - Buffet dinner is served, more socializing. Captains have a chance to meet crew, vice versa.
